Lenten collection for Lutheran World relief

We are collecting items for personal care kits for LWR!

Please bring in the following during the season of Lent.

• light-weight bath-size towel (between 20” x 40” and 52” x 27”), dark color recommended

• bath-size bars of soap equaling 8 to 9 oz., any brand, in original wrapping

• adult-size toothbrush in it’s original packaging • ONE sturdy comb

• metal nail clippers (attached file optional)

Please place in boxes in community room or narthex. We will assemble the Personal Care Kits after Easter.

Peace by Piece: Lent 2020

How can we build peace into our church, homes, communities, world? Join us this Lenten season as we learn together how we can do our piece to bring God’s peace to others! All are welcome to join the soup supper and evening prayer each Wednesday during Lent. We will explore how the gifts of love, hope, grace, peace are key pieces in building a Christian community.

Wednesday lunches for the community

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Talk to Bob L. if you are able to help serve, make soup, or clean-up at our Wednesday lunches for the homeless. Lunches run through Lent.

Spiritual Visioning

March 1- April 11 Focus on the flowing questions during this month, whether by yourself, with your family or in small groups: • What are our growing edges? • What do we personally feel called to? • How does our history influence us? • How does our location influence our ministry? Servant Trip to Montana

Chili Lunch Sunday, March 8th

All donations will go to the Montana trip . 16 people will travel by train to Our Savior Lutheran Church on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in Havre, MT. During the lunch there will be a short presentation about the tribe and what our youth will be learning and doing when they are there.

Troop 111 Presents Night O’ Fun 

If you are in 1st or 2nd year Webelos or are interested in being in Scouts this event is just for you. Come check us out at Troop 111.

We are an all-girls Scouts BSA troop based out of Elgin, IL.

Who: Any girl interested in joining a BSA troop. (To join you must be 11 years old or have completed the 5th grade)

What: A night of Scout fun and games, food, and the chance to meet your new scout family. If you are already a Scout wear your uniform if you are not yet a Scout, wear green. When: Tuesday March 17th, 2020 6:30 to 8:00 Where: 340 Grand Blvd, Elgin, IL 60120

Volunteers in Action

Thank you to all the volunteers who make ministry more fun at Holy Trinity! Last month, we had over 70 people serve in a variety of ways! From answering in the phones, ushering, cleaning & sorting, helping with the food truck, cooking, teaching, to so much more! As the saying goes “Many hands make light work!” I would add it also makes serving the people of Holy Trinity and our community more enriching for all involved! Thank you for your willingness to serve. Dementia Caregivers Support Group

Join us from 10-11 am  every 4th Wednesday of the month, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 357 Division St, Elgin, will be the host location of an Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Support Group.  This support group includes supportive conversation and education. All caregivers of loved ones in the Elgin area who have various stages of dementia are welcome. It will be a time to get together with others to share practical information, coping with stress, and sharing feelings and experiences that come with caring for a loved one with dementia.

Kid's Hope

Mentors meet with children once
a week at Lord’s Park School. Mentors are
also paired with a prayer partner who pray
for the child and mentor. If you are
interested in being a mentor or a prayer

After-School Ministry
 People are needed to help tutor, serve snacks, and read to the children! It is a fun afternoon, contact Jackie Kutina to help

Hearts & Hands in Service

A service oriented group open to adults 21 and over. They work at the Northern Illinois food bank and the Feeding Greater Elgin food pantry.

Lutheran Disaster Response

Funds and items are collected to send anywhere in the world where there has been a disaster.

Women of the ELCA

Women meet the first and fourth Tuesdays of every month to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
